KIDS CONTEST: In June (Father's Day), SU sponsors a Fishing Contest for any SU member's youngster or sponsored by a SU member,
age 15 and under. We fit them with life preservers and assign them to SU volunteer member's boats for a fun morning of fishing
on Lake Michigan out of the Racine Harbor. SU provides all the gear and the expert assistance to help the youngsters land "a
big one". There are prizes and trophies for fish caught. Add some food and you have the making for a great day on the water
for both the kids and volunteers alike.
KIDS FISHING CLINIC This clinic is held at the Quarry-Lake Park in Racine, usually in late April shortly after the
WI DNR has stocked the quarry with trout. We typically have 250-400 kids turn out for this event. It includes hands-on instructions
for fish identification, knot tying, environmental basics, lure basics, practice casting, water safety and of course an opportunity
to try their luck fishing for the wily trout. SU & DNR volunteers are on hand to provide assistance. Prizes and food

Youngsters are our foundation for fishing in the future and Salmon Unlimited holds some special events to help the kids get involved.
